Having made it past first round, we took the initiative to start our mission by using our granted $2,000 to install two filtered water stations in our campus along with starting off our movement.
- We ordered three recycling bins to implement around campus.
- We informed our students on a first hand basis by giving class presentations about our successful and developing green movement.
- Students were very surprised and grateful to see our school becoming more advanced.
- Our awareness has encouraged more girls to take part in our movement and be apart of next year's Girls Build LA team to start as a tradition.

"Recycling is always good to do at home and it's great that we are doing this at our school. We even began to partner with the County of Los Angeles, City of La Puente, and Bassett Unified School District to encourage water reuse known as the Storm Water Project. It is great that our empowering leaders at the school took matters into their own hands and founded this establishment on their own with the help of Christina Topjian. Now we're able to encourage recycle awareness amongst not only the schools in our district, but all of our neighboring districts as well."

“Since the concept of the installation was brought up I began to prepare for installing more stations not only at the high school but at our middle schools.I really expect these to be so popular that kids will begin to demand more and more , so much that the expansion will only increase more throughout our school as well as other schools too.”
-Ian Guajardo, Director of Maintenance
“The new water filtration system is extremely efficient and convenient! I'm so thankful that it was installed because not only is the water cold for these hot days, but it also tastes much better than before. It's nice to know that it also reduces the use of plastic bottles and ultimately saves students money since they don't need to go out and purchase bottled water now. I love it and I always refill my hydroflask with it!”

"How awesome that Bassett’s Girls Build LA team installed a water bottle refill station! Now my team has a place to refill their water bottles for practice, games, and rallies. Now I can even add a reusable water bottle to their spirit pack!"

“I feel it's something really good that has been introduced to the school. It's something I think a lot of people are interested in. I feel students will use it very often considering how much it has been used working the first few days of installation already. There has definitely been more of an increase especially thanks to what you Girls Build LA team as a group have increasing awareness and engaging people in wanting to help. This water is much better being filtered and especially that it's cold. That's something what everyone wanted for sure.”

"I think it's a nice idea. It will definitely come in handy during basketball season because we tend to have hot and sweaty practices in the gym."
-Jorge Espinoza, 11
"I believe the water filtered station is more convenient for students like myself. I'll probably be saving myself money not having to constantly buy so many water bottles from the vending machines that sometimes even take my dollar. Now I can invest in a portable water bottle and refill it whenever I wish."
-Lessly Perez, 12
